Project Brief:
We were commissioned by our client to attend site and install a new carpet, which was supplied by them, onto a high-specification dual-construction underlay. This underlay consisted of a rubber crumb base with a horsehair and jute top layer, providing both durability and comfort.
Installation Process:
The carpet was delivered with an integrated border detail, which required on-site fabrication to a precise width of 20 cm. This border had to follow the complex contours of the room and bar area. Each section was meticulously cut to size and shape, then seamed together to form a continuous and seamless border.
Once the border was in place, the main infill carpet was laid over the top and cut using an inviseamer. This ensured a tight, flawless fit with no visible gaps between the infill and the border. The infill was then seamed into the border to complete the unified flooring.
Challenges:
Particular attention was required around the curved bar areas, where the border had to be carefully segmented into strips to accommodate the tight radius bends. Precision and craftsmanship were essential to ensure a clean and cohesive finish throughout.
